A smoking ceremony conducted by Uncle Ivan Wellington and a turning of the soil was held on Friday 25th February to mark the construction of Odyssey’s new Family Recovery Centre.
The new centre is being built on the site of the former program cottages at Eagle Vale and will enable Odyssey House NSW to double the intake of families enrolled in the Parent’s and Children’s Program (PCP). The PCP has helped parents break the cycle of generational drug and alcohol dependence for over 45 years. The program also supports skill development and assists in establishing safe and healthy family homes.
The Family Recovery Centre is a significant development, set to cost around $4.8m. It has so far received public funding from the State Government, Federal Government and a private donation from The Wiggs Foundation. We still need to raise a further $1m to complete the construction and cover additional operational costs.
