For nearly five decades, Tina Green and her late husband, Maurice, have been dedicated supporters of Odyssey House NSW.
Their journey began in 1977 when they first learnt of its mission through a personal connection to Walter McGrath’s family (The Founder of Odyssey House NSW).
Maurice later joined the Board, eventually serving as Chair, while Tina dedicated countless hours volunteering. In the early days, Tina worked in the organisation’s storefront, interviewing residents, sorting donations, and assisting with bail hearings.
Her role evolved into philanthropy as she saw firsthand the need for expanded services, particularly for families.
One of the initiatives closest to her heart is the Family Recovery Centre, which supports parents in rehabilitation while ensuring their children are cared for.
Keeping families together is key to breaking the cycle of addiction.
Witnessing Odyssey’s growth from a small initiative to a transformative force in the community has been incredibly rewarding.
For Tina, the most compelling reason to support Odyssey remains the powerful stories of those who have overcome addiction. “Hearing clients speak about their long and challenging journeys of recovery and the brighter futures they look forward to is truly wonderful.” she reflects. We are deeply grateful to Tina for he dedication, generosity, and belief in the life-changing work of Odyssey.
