Family Recovery Centre
Our family recovery centre is one of only a few services in Australia that supports children to live with their parents while they undertake a rehabilitation program, and one of the only programs that accepts single parents and couples. Located in Eagle Vale, our centre provides a home–like environment for single fathers, single mothers, couples and pregnant women to recover from alcohol and other drug dependence harms while their children (0-12 years) stay with them.
Program breakdown
The family recovery centre offers the same treatment as our Residential Program, with the addition of parenting and family supports. Rather than staying in our main residential centre, families stay in a purpose-built family friendly facility.
We will work with you and your family to provide additional tailored support, including:
Parenting guidance
Guidance from family support workers on reconnecting with children and establishing safe and healthy home environments, including parenting and family support groups.
Childcare and education
We partner with local schools and daycare/pre-school providers so your children can continue to attend school or childcare, while you take part in your recovery program. Free school uniforms and tailored school transition plans are provided.
Physical and emotional support for children
Referrals to free paediatric and psychological support to help your children overcome any challenges they are experiencing.
Family case management
Tailored support for you and your family including; department communities and justice, family court, schooling support for children and other case management including housing and employment.

FAQs
The same costs apply as in the main Residential Program.Â
Treatment costs include:
- Payment for Withdrawal Unit (Detox) – $250 admissions fee, no further costs.
- Payment for Residential Program – the above, plus 80% of your Centrelink benefit
Our intake team will work with you before you enter the medical and withdrawal unit to discuss the best option for you. We usually recommend someone cares for your child while you undergo withdrawal (detox), as you may not feel well at times. After your stay in the unit, your child can then join you in the family recovery centre. In circumstances where you do not have someone to care for your child is not possible, we will provide you with withdrawal support in the family recovery centre itself. Â
Unfortunately, the residential part of the family recovery centre is unable to accommodate children who are older than 12. Where possible, our intake team can attempt to help you find appropriate care for your child(ren). If you stay without your child(ren), you will still be able to participate in the parenting program and receive parenting support and case management while in the main program.
