Consumer Advisory Committee – Expression of Interest
Have you accessed alcohol and other drug (AOD) services? Want to use your experience to improve services for people impacted by AOD use? Make a difference – Join our Consumer Advisory Committee!
Odyssey House NSW provides rehabilitation services to address harms associated with AOD use. Since 1977, we have built a comprehensive network of specialised withdrawal and rehabilitation programs. Our professional staff help clients develop skills to meet their physical, emotional and intellectual needs, reconnect with family and strengthen their social connections.
Join our Consumer Advisory Committee and turn your lived experience into positive impact. You’ll work directly with decision-makers while being supported and recognised for your valuable expertise.
About the role
- Provide advice on our initiatives and activities
- Attend 3 meetings per year (in-person or virtual), with the potential for additional meetings to be booked as needed
- No previous committee experience needed
- You will be remunerated for each meeting attended
We value diverse perspectives and lived experiences
The Committee will reflect a diverse group of consumers with lived experience accessing AOD services. We are seeking members from the following groups to ensure consumer perspectives are embedded in our work:
- current or past Odyssey House clients
- people who’ve accessed other AOD services
- family members and carers of people who’ve accessed AOD services.
We value diversity and recognise that people have multiple identities and experiences that shape their perspectives. We particularly welcome members who also identify with one or more of the following communities:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- younger adults (18-25) and older adults (60+)
- diverse gender identities and sexualities
- culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- people with a lived or living experience of a disability
- people with lived or living experience of mental health issues
- people with lived experience of incarceration.
